250139 Misrecognition of Minorities (S) (SoSe 2019)

Contents, comment

The seminar will discuss and explore with all participants what disrespect of groups in a society is and means. Disregard is not the other side of attention or recognition. It expresses the mediation of non-belonging. In this seminar we would also like to make small field observations and researches and explore how members of minorities experience disrespect. For this purpose, the participants form working groups and explore dimensions of disrespect. Psychological, pedagogical, sociological as well as social and cultural science research will be consulted. The course and literature will be presented in the first session.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.

The seminar will be held in English and also supported by Dr. Arin Ayanian.

All participants take part in an input to the seminar (20 min. presentation of publications or study results).

The input and other achievements can be evaluated for the graded achievement (module examination).

Module exams only in Migration Pedagogy, Civic- and International Education.
