Teil II des Moduls 20-M2 "Grundlagen der Molekularen Biologie", verantwortlich: Bernd Weisshaar.

Diese Vorlesung vermittelt den Studierenden eine Einführung in die molekulare Biologie. Als Leitmotiv dient das Motto "vom Molekül zur Zelle zum Organismus". Dabei soll ersichtlich werden, dass die einzelnen Disziplinen der molekularen Biologie (vor allem Biochemie, Physiologie, Genetik, Zellbiologie und Mikrobiologie) unterschiedliche Ansätze sind, die erst in ihrer Kombination ein Verständnis der grundlegenden Prozesse der molekularen Biologie ermöglichen. Behandelt werden die allgemeinen Prinzipien des Aufbaus lebender Materie, Bau und Funktion biologisch wichtiger Moleküle, molekulare Mechanismen des Stoffwechsels, Struktur und Funktion von pro- und eukaryotischen Zellen sowie von Zellorganellen, die molekulare Grundlage der Vererbung und das zentrale Dogma der Molekulargenetik, klassische und Cyto-Genetik sowie Kontrolle der Genexpression, Entwicklungsgenetik und Musterbildung.
