220071 Verbotene Photographie(n) – Das Illegitime in Positionen der Gegenwartsphotographie (S) (WiSe 2018/2019)

Die Photographie galt mit ihrem Aufkommen im 19. Jahrhundert als absolutes Abbildungsmedium der Wirklichkeit. Ihr Authentizitätseffekt erweckte den Eindruck, die Dinge selbst seien in die Photos eingegangen, so unbestechlich schien ihre darstellerische Glaubwürdigkeit. Fortan galt sie als Medium der Sichtbarmachung par excellence. Ein verifizierendes, technisches Verfahren, das ein paradoxes Verhältnis zum kategorisch „Verbotenen“ und „Heimlichen“ aufweist, welches sich – so lässt sich behaupten – jeglicher Form der Ablichtung vehement zu entziehen versucht.
Das Seminar widmet sich dieser prekären Verschränkung von Sichtbarkeit und Unsichtbarkeit. Im Fokus stehen künstlerisch-photographische Darstellungen, Dokumentationen, Inszenierungen und Enthüllungen des Verbotenen und Heimlichen in der Gegenwartsphotographie. Es wird dabei ebenso um verbotene Illustrationen wie heimlich geschossene Bilder gehen, um fotografische Grenzüberschreitungen, und um Unsichtbares, das operational ins Feld der Sichtbarkeit gezogen wird.
