Die "Historia Apolloni regis Tyrii", die Geschichte vom König Apollonius aus Tyrus, ist einer der drei erhaltenen Romane der lateinischen Literatur. Sie ist jahrhundertelang gelesen, bearbeitet und in fast alle europäischen Sprachen übersetzt worden.
Die Erzählung eines unbekannten Verfassers beschreibt die Wanderungen und Irrfahrten des Apollonius von Tyrus bis zur Wiedervereinigung mit seiner Frau und seiner Tochter Tarsia und seiner Wiedereinsetzung in sein königliches Amt.
Im Mittelpunkt der Veranstaltung soll die Übersetzung des lateinischen Textes basierend auf der Handschrift Redactio A aus dem 5.-6.Jh. n. Chr. stehen.

Die zugrunde gelegte Textausgabe wird zusammen mit einführenden Sekundärtexten in Form eines Readers in der ersten Sitzung bereitgestellt.
