The introduction seminar provides an overview of the MA Sociology International Track at Bielefeld University.
The target group of the seminar is international students who start to study in the master sociology programm in the winter semester 2019/20.
The course introduces the study programme of the MA Sociology International Track and offers assistance for the compilation of individual timetables for the winter semester 2019/20. The course gives you the opportunity to meet your peers in the MA Sociology International Track and to get familiar with some important faculty structures. The course offers enough room for your individual needs and ideas. Furthermore, students will attend a workshop "Academic Skills Development".
Please note that the course will start in the last lecture-free week (first week of October).
The workshop ""Academic Skills Development" is intended for students wishing to further develop their academic skills, improve their understanding of academic culture and explore ways of communicating effectively during their studies at Bielefeld University. We will focus on topics such as written assignments, stylistic conventions, plagiarism and other essential and relevant areas where you should pay special attention to. We will also deal with topics such as communication with lecturers, supervisors and staff and spend time looking into our own working styles. Based on your own background and experience, we will cover these and similar issues in an informative, supportive and enjoyable way, giving everyone a chance to participate.
