Ob im Alltag oder in der Freizeit – das Radfahren hat eine große Bedeutung für Kinder und Jugendliche. Können sie das Rad als Fortbewegungsmittel nutzen, dann sind sie in der Lage, selbstständig zur Schule oder zu Freunden zu fahren. Die Beherrschung des Fahrradfahrens stellt eine Voraussetzung zur kulturellen Teilhabe an Freizeitaktivitäten mit Peers dar.
Radfahren mit Kindern und Jugendlichen, insbesondere in der Gruppe, stellt (Sport)Lehrkräfte vor besondere Herausforderungen. Neben Sicherheitsaspekten und Verkehrsregeln gilt es, die unterschiedlichen Könnensniveaus der Schüler*innen zu berücksichtigen, um ein gemeinsames und sicheres Radfahren zu ermöglichen.
Im Praxiskurs (Bereich: Gleiten, Fahren, Rollen) sollen diese Aspekte theoretisch aufgegriffen und praktisch erprobt werden, wobei unterschiedliche Strecken in der Region (auch im Wald) für das Fahren in der Gruppe genutzt werden.
