216011 Englisch für Chemiker I (SpK) (SoSe 2018)

This content-based language course is designed for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of chemistry.

The main focus of the course will be on training the reading comprehension and improving the ability to speak about scientific/academic topics. One major topic will be presentations in English, participants will be expected to give short presentations on a scientific topic of their choice.

Further we will be looking at learning strategies to enhance the participants’ scientific vocabulary, as well as, listening comprehension and difficult grammar topics will be dealt with.

Class language is English (Level B1+ of the Common European Framework). The course includes all four skills of English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).

Requirements for participation, required level

Mindestens 6 Jahre Schulenglisch werden vorausgesetzt.

Students participating regularly and handing in homework, and giving two presentations (one long and one short) will be awarded 3 ECTS.
