Was ist Recht? Auf diese Frage gibt es viele Antworten – auch aus soziologischer Sicht. In der Vorlesung sollen Grundlagen der Rechtssoziologie gelegt werden. Dazu werden sowohl soziologische Theorien des Rechts behandelt als auch das Konzept einer sich als Sozialwissenschaft verstehenden Rechtswissenschaft dargestellt. An ausgewählten Beispielen aus dem Bereich der Rechtstatsachenforschung soll die Bedeutung rechtssoziologischer und rechtspsychologischer Forschung für ein umfassendes Verständnis des Rechts und der Juristen in der modernen Gesellschaft aufgezeigt werden.
Die Vorlesung wendet sich insbesondere an Studierende aus Anfangssemestern (Staatsexamen und BA/Nebenfach). Insofern wird eine Semesterabschlussklausur zum Erwerb des kleinen Grundlagenscheins (Staatsexamen) bzw. als Einzelleistung (BA/Nebenfach) angeboten. Die Vorlesung ist aber auch für Studierende aus den Schwerpunktbereichen 8 und 9 (§§ 43 Abs. 2 S. 2, 44 Abs. 2 S. 2 Studien- und Prüfungsordnung) geeignet.
