300637 The Asylum Process in Germany (30-M25) (S) (SoSe 2025)

This course may be situated within Forced Migration and Refugee Studies. The seminar aims at highlighting the various processes and procedures involved in seeking asylum in Germany. It seeks to broaden participants knowledge and understanding of these procedures with the practical steps involved. It also discusses the different legal regimes governing the process. Topics to be discussed include some basic terms and definitions, legal basis for asylum, and why people seek asylum. It also highlights the stages from applying to obtaining the refugee status, and other statuses of protection that may be obtained at the end of the process among others.
