In den ersten sieben Sitzungen lernen Studierende unterschiedliche soziologische Ansätze zum Analyse von Bildern in Werbung, Populärkultur und in der privaten Fotografie kennen (Berger, Goffman, Hall, Campt, Wex etc.). Dabei werden wir nicht nur Ergebnisse rezipieren und diskutieren, sondern auch die unterschiedlichen methodischen Vorgehensweisen rekonstruieren und kritisch bewerten. Solchermaßen vorbereitet, wendet sich das Seminar im letzten Drittel des Semesters der Analyse heutiger Bilder von Geschlecht, wie sie in Medien und auf social media gefunden werden können, zu.

Damit die Analyse der heutigen Bilder auf hohem methodisch-theoretischem Niveau gelingen kann, ist es notwendig, dass Studierende an den Theorie- und Methodensitzungen in der ersten Hälfte des Semesters teilnehmen und die dort zur Diskussion stehenden Texte vor der Sitzung sorgfältig lesen. Für die in den letzten Sitzungen des Semesters vorzustellenden eigenen Analysen ist die Sammlung relevanter Materialien notwendig, mit der möglichst früh im Verlauf des Semesters zu beginnen ist. Eine Themenabsprache inkl. einer möglichen Einteilung in Arbeitsgruppen wird daher bereits Anfang Mai erfolgen.
