Das Seminar führt in das politische und philosophische Denken und die politischen Erfahrungen schwarzer Autoren*innen — afro-amerikanischer und postkolonialer — ein, und diskutiert sie in Bezug auf die Fragen der Gerechtigkeit, Identität, Macht, Freiheit und Gleichheit. Es ist als eine erste Einführung in die zentralen Konzepte der modernen und zeitgenössischen politischen Theorien schwarzer Autoren*innen gedacht. Anfangend im 19. Jahrhundert werden wir ausgewählte Schriften von Denker*innen und Aktivisten*innen aus Afrika und der afrikanischen Diaspora lesen und deren verschiedene theoretische Perspektiven zu Themen wie Rassismus, Kolonialismus, Neukolonialismus, Feminismus, Ökonomie usw. diskutieren. Das Ziel ist, die politischen Erfahrungen der afroamerikanischer und postkolonialer Autoren*innen zu deprovinzialisieren und sie gleichzeitig in ihrer Vielfalt zu betrachten.
Die Bereitschaft, englischsprachige Texte zu lesen, wird vorausgesetzt.
