Nicht nur im Studium, auch in der literaturwissenschaftlichen Forschung werden literarische Texte vornehmlich im Medium des Buches wahrgenommen. Dabei wurden gerade Erzähltexte oft zunächst in Zeitungen und Zeitschriften veröffentlicht, häufig in Fortsetzungen.
Im Seminar wollen wir uns die Frage stellen, welchen Unterschied es macht, ob ein Text in einer Zeitschrift oder in einem Buch erscheint: Gibt es zum Beispiel besondere Techniken, um Spannung über eine Reihe von Zeitschriftenheften hinweg zu erzeugen? Welche Rolle spielen die anderen Artikel in einer Zeitschrift, die den literarischen Text umgeben? Müssen wir andere als die vom Buch gewohnten Lesestrategien anwenden, um einen Fortsetzungsroman in einer Zeitschrift zu lesen?
Um Antworten zu finden, werden wir experimentieren und selbst über mehrere Wochen hinweg einen Zeitschriftenroman aus dem 19. Jahrhundert in Fortsetzungen lesen.

Interesse an medienwissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen und vor allem die Bereitschaft zu wöchentlicher Lektüre und regelmäßiger Seminarteilnahme.

Der im Seminar gelesene Fortsetzungsroman wird zu Beginn des Semesters im Lernraum zur Verfügung gestellt.
