Mit seinem Theater wolle er ein Stachel im Arsch der Mächtigen sein, so postulierte Claus Peymann zu seinem Amtsantritt als Intendant des Berliner Ensembles im Jahr 1999.
Im Seminar werden wir anhand von ausgewählter Literatur Stationen der Entwicklung insbesondere des europäischen Theaters von der antiken griechischen Tragödie bis hin zum postdramatischen Theater untersuchen und mit Blick auf das Theater der Gegenwart diskutieren. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Frage: Ist Theater überhaupt politisch? Kann und soll es besagter Stachel im Arsch der Mächtigen sein?
