The course introduces the meaning and the evolution of International Children’s Rights. It discussed children’s rights in light of international human rights law and presents a guide to the legal framework protecting children’s rights mainly the convention on the rights of the child (CRC) and its main general principles and articles.
Various children’s rights in practice including the right to life, the right to education, the right to health, juvenile justice, separated children, refugee and asylum-seeking children and other themes will be deeply discussed. International and regional mechanisms as well as the work of UNICEF and other international organizations in the field of protecting and promoting Children’s Rights will be also presented.
