In this study group, we will look at different forms of representation under the LGBTQ+ umbrella in a school context. How can we support students? How do we tackle anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric? Where does that rhetoric come from? What (pop-)cultural influences exist for LGBTQ+ youth? What counts as good representation, what doesn't? These and many more questions are among those we'll tackle in the form of short presentations every week, leaving space for open discussion afterwards. A conceptual syllabus will be prepared beforehand, but the final plan for the semester will hopefully be a collaboration, finding ways to discuss these topics from as many angles as possible.
Due to this being a study group, participation by everyone attending is key. I am looking forward to a safe, collaborative workspace, open for many different ideas and providing plenty of feedback.
