This seminar will introduce first-year students to the basics of literary studies – the tools of the trade, as it were. Participants will be taught the terms and methods of analysis and interpretation of texts in the three main literary genres, poetry, drama and narrative. The course material will be made available in the Lernraum.
Students are strongly urged to make time for the corresponding tutorial, which offers support in the organization of studies, practices strategies of research and the formal requirements of academic work and repeats material presented in class.

In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
