Contents, comment

This seminar will introduce first-year students to the basics of literary studies – the tools of the trade, as it were. Participants will be taught the terms and methods of analysis and interpretation of texts in the three main literary genres, poetry, drama and narrative. The course material will be made available in the Lernraum.

Students are strongly urged to make time for the corresponding tutorial, which offers support in the organization of studies, practices strategies of research and the formal requirements of academic work and repeats material presented in class.

The 3 CP (= 90 hours) for this class encompass regular participation (or alternative self-study with submitted reflection papers), weekly homework tasks for class preparation, and a Studienleistung of two short essays and a short worksheet. (If this sounds like a lot of work, that’s because it is.)
