Contents, comment

This seminar will examine youth cultures in Britain from the post-WWII period to today. We will be reading cultural studies theory on youth, youth cultures, subcultures and counter cultures, and examining various literary examples. In addition to grappling with the historical formation and development of concepts such as "youth" and "youth culture", we will examine the relationship of youth cultures to power and ideology in various historical periods.
