220100 Die Kriege Amerikas im 20. Jahrhundert (K) (SoSe 2017)

Eigentlich seit dem amerikanisch-spanischen Krieg von 1898 sind die USA in der Welt auch jenseits der Monroe-Doktrin interventionistisch militärisch unterwegs. Die Historische Kontextualisierung wird in einem Nummernreigen vom Ersten Weltkrieg bis zum Zweiten Irakkrieg die Entwicklung amerikanischer militärischer Interventionen nachskizzieren, wobei auch der „Kalte Krieg“ eine Rolle spielen wird. Meine These ist, dass die USA im nächsten Krieg den jeweils vorhergehenden auszufechten versuchten, was schmerzhafte Lernprozesse während der bewaffneten Konflikte und auch die traumatischen Fehlschläge der Zeit nach 1945 vielleicht erklärt. There will be blood.
