Soziale Arbeit ist eine gesellschaftlich relevante und historische gewachsene Profession und Disziplin, die mit den lebenspraktischen Notlagen und Bedürfnissen von Menschen befasst ist. Da dies ein voraussetzungsvolles Unterfangen darstellt, bedarf es einer stetigen theoretischen und empirischen (Selbst-)Vergewisserung.
Ziel des Seminars ist es, einen ersten Einblick in und groben Überblick über wichtige wissenschaftliche Reflexionsdimensionen und professionelle Handlungszusammenhänge zu geben. Zu diskutierende Fragen sind u. a.: Wie ist Soziale Arbeit historisch entstanden? Welche Theoretisierungsversuche Soziale Arbeit betreffend gibt es? Wie sind die gegenwärtigen Entwicklungen in Arbeitsbedingungen und Qualität sozialer Dienste zu bewerten?

Zur Vorbereitung der einzelnen Seminarsitzungen wird den Studierenden entsprechende Lektüre zugänglich gemacht, die als Grundlage der Diskussionen dienen.

Prüfungsformen werden gemeinsam in der ersten Seminarsitzung besprochen.
