Im Seminar sollen die vielen Einzelaspekte rund um das Thema 'Messen' in der empirischen Sozialforschung thematisiert und diskutiert werden: Neben der Frage, wie ForscherInnen von der Theorie zur Operationalisierung hin zur Messung gelangen, sollen u.a. die Annahmen der klassischen Testtheorie, verschiedene Skalierungstechniken und Messinstrumente sowie die Gütekriterien einer Messung im Seminar thematisiert werden. Der Fokus des Seminars liegt dabei auf der quantitativen Sozialforschung und soll die im BA erlangten Kenntnisse in diesem Themenbereich vertiefen.
