This seminar focuses on discriminatory experiences and the living circumstances of LGBTQI* (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and intersex) people in Germany. The Seminar starts with a theoretical block that covers different topics (for example working live, LGBTQI* families, partnership, health). Additionally, empirical methods to measure sexual orientation, gender/sex and discrimination will be discussed. The main part of the seminar is an empirical block that includes the practical use of analysis methods (for example linear regression and logistic regression) to research discriminatory experiences and the living circumstances of LGBTQI* people in Germany. The database is a German online survey (LGBielefeld) with over 7.000 LGBTQI* respondents.
This seminar requires some basic knowledge of Stata and multivariate statistics. Therefore, students who have worked with other statistical software in their previous studies are recommended to learn Stata basics before the seminar.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
