El objetivo principal de este seminario radica analizar un conjunto de prácticas literarias narrativas (novela, cuento y relato breve) que permitan comprender las principales tendencias, continuidades y rupturas de las literaturas centroamericanas producidas entre 1970 y 2020. De manera particular, este seminario no sólo implica una visión panorámica del desarrollo literario en Centroamérica, sino que también pretende analizar las distintas estrategias estéticas desde las cuales la ficción centroamericana ha interpretado las dinámicas sociales y culturales de la región.
Desde el impacto internacional que tuvieron los discursos testimoniales durante el periodo de las luchas armadas ocurridas entre la década del 70 y del 80, el desarrollo de la novela urbana e histórica, vinculada con el desencanto de los proyectos político-revolucionarios durante la década del 90 y principios del siglo XXI, y hasta las nuevas manifestaciones posmodernas vinculadas con el fenómeno de la violencia, las subjetividades y los procesos de migración ocurridos en el contexto de neo liberalización económica de las dos primeras décadas del siglo XXI, el objetivo de este seminario consiste en analizar los principales discursos e imaginarios sociales que abarca este periodo a partir de la propuesta estético-narrativa de algunos autores y autoras representativos, tales como: Sergio Ramírez, Gioconda Belli, Horacio Castellanos Moya, Carlos Cortés, Mauricio Orellana, Claudia Hernández, Lety Alvir y Jacinta Escudos.
