In der Vorlesung werden die Studierenden zunächst mit verschiedenen Modellen zur Erklärung der Entstehung und Aufrechterhaltung psychischer Störungen vertraut gemacht. Darauf aufbauend werden die Symptomatik, Klassifikationskriterien sowie störungsorientierten ätiologischen Modelle für die wichtigsten psychischen Störungen (z. B. Schizophrenien, Depressionen, Angst- und Essstörungen) vorgestellt. Als Ausblick wird jeweils auf empirisch bewährte Behandlungsmethoden eingegangen.
