Die Eintagesexkursion führt in das Naturschutzgebiet „Großes Torfmoor“ welches zwischen dem Wiehengebirge und dem Mittellandkanal liegt und ein Hochmoor im Nordosten Nordrhein-Westfalens ist. Das Schutzgebiet besitzt mit seiner hochmoortypischen Tier- und Pflanzenwelt eine europaweite Bedeutung für den Naturschutz und ist mit ca. 550 ha das bedeutendste Hochmoor Westfalens.
Auf der Exkursion werden neben den überwiegend botanischen Schwerpunkten (Schlenken- und Bultenvegetation; Feuchtheideflächen, Pfeifengras- und Besenheidebestände, Gehölzvegetation und extensives Grünland) auch landschaftsökologische und kulturelle Schwerpunkte behandelt.
Treffpunkt nach positiver Rückmeldung bzgl. Teilnahme ist: der Parkplatz des NABU-Moorhus; Frotheimer Straße 57a in 32312 Lübbecke oder an der Universität nach Rücksprache
Dauer: 10-16Uhr, 7km Wanderung
Schreibzeug, wetterfeste Kleidung, ein Handtuch und Verpflegung sind mitzubringen. Sollte die Exkursion wetterbedingt ausfallen, wird das am Abend vor der Exkursion bis 18 Uhr per E-mail bekannt gegeben.
