Die Vorstellungen von Männlichkeit waren im 20. Jahrhundert einem steten Wandel unterworfen. Dieser Wandel von Männlichkeitsbildern wurden stets durch den Film begleitet. Im 21. Jahrhundert sind Geschlechtervorstellungen nun so weit ins Rutschen geraten, dass die Vorstellung von Männlichkeit selbst zum Problem wird, dennoch werden weiterhin Vorstellungen von Männlichkeit über Filme transportiert.
In diesem Seminar nehmen wir den Wandel der Vorstellungen von Männlichkeit aus rund hundert Jahren Filmgeschichte und aus unterschiedlichen Ländern mit den Mitteln qualitativer Medienforschung in den Blick. Hierbei suchen wir nach Kontinuitäten, Brüchen und Neuschreibungen der Vorstellungen von Männlichkeit, bzw. vielleicht sogar deren Auflösung. Potenzielle Filme dieses Seminars sind sowohl Filme aus der goldenen Zeit des Films, der "New Wave", des "Postklassischen Kinos" sowie aktuelle Produktionen der "Post#metoo-Ära"
