Competencies

Studierende können die Lebensweise sozialer Insekten beschreiben und sind mit den besonderen ökologischen, verhaltensbiologischen und genetischen Eigenheiten dieser Tiergruppe vertraut. Sie sind in der Lage, basierend auf der bisherigen Forschung zu diesem Themenkomplex einfache Experimente zu konzipieren, entsprechende Daten aufzunehmen und auszuwerten. Sie können begründet Stellung zur öffentlichen Debatte um Schutz und Nutzen sozialer Insekten nehmen.

Content of teaching

Es wird ein Überblick über die verschiedenen Gruppen sozial lebender Insekten gegeben. Die besonderen Eigenheiten der Tiergruppe werden herausgearbeitet. Das theoretische Wissen wird durch praktische Arbeit an und Versuche mit Honigbienenvölkern vertieft. Schließlich werden aktuelle Themen wie das "Bienensterben" oder die "Bestäubungskrise" diskutiert.
