For information on the duration of the modul, refer to the courses of study in which the module is used.
After completing the module, you will be able to present and evaluate the motor and neurocognitive foundations of movement-based intervention approaches. You will be able to consider the specific characteristics of motor development from childhood to late adulthood. You will plan either preventive health-related or rehabilitative interventions aimed at specific clinical conditions and will be able to assess their effectiveness using specific diagnostic tools. You will develop your own experimental studies and be able to statistically evaluate the experimental results and present them at a scientific level.
In the courses of this module you will gain an overview of the characteristics of the course of motor development, taking into account cognitive, basic motor skills, everyday motor skills, and sports-specific movement skills. You will investigate the intra-individual plasticity of motor skills, abilities, and learning abilities to understand the adaptability of the motor system. As part of the planning of motor interventions, you will learn to develop preventative approaches for various target groups, such as children, adults, and the elderly. Alternatively, you will deal with the planning of rehabilitative interventions for selected clinical conditions, such as stroke. You can choose to deepen your knowledge of device-based intervention concepts, particularly non-invasive neuromodulation procedures. Alternatively, you will learn methods for diagnosing motor functions and somatosensory functions. Cognitive tests (e.g., the mental rotation test) will complement your diagnostic repertoire. Finally, you will acquire skills in experimental planning. You will carry out your own research project, usually in a group of two to three people, analyse the data statistically and present your results as part of the project seminar.

The coursework serves to practise a reflective and discursive attitude to the topics covered in the course and has a practising and deepening character with regard to the competences anchored in the module. Coursework is a presentation and guidance of group discussion or a presentation and guidance of intervention. The following applies to all contributions: Students may be required to submit written contributions totalling a maximum of 2,400 words or oral contributions totalling a maximum of 50-60 minutes. |
