Competencies

In the lecture "Fundamentals of Exercise Science", you will acquire basic knowledge of theories and methods for analysing, structuring and teaching forms of sporting exercise. You will also acquire specialist knowledge on selected aspects of personality and motivational psychology, which will enable you to assess the psychological prerequisites and consequences of sporting activity.

Your basic training science skills from the course "Fundamentals of Training Science and Sports Medicine", which are based on knowledge of functional-anatomical and physiological relationships, will enable you to design a training unit/sport lesson that takes into account the basic principles of training that are essential for targeted performance development in the area of fitness.

In the lecture "Fundamentals of Sports Pedagogy" you will acquire knowledge about the subject matter, questions, methods and tasks of sports pedagogy as a science. You will acquire a broad and integrated knowledge and a differentiated understanding of the scientific foundations of various related theories of sports pedagogy and will be able to critically analyse the various theories for the justification and selection of goals and content of sports pedagogical processes. They can reflect on sport-related educational processes from different theoretical perspectives and with reference to different organisational forms and target groups and evaluate them using pedagogical criteria.

You will be able to demonstrate that you have acquired expertise in training science, sports pedagogy and sports medicine by demonstrating your understanding of the issues dealt with in the lectures in a written examination.

Content of teaching

The lecture "Fundamentals of Movement Science" provides an overview of approaches to describing and analysing athletic movements. The focus of the presentation is on theories on the processes of motor control and control of human movements, on forms of shaping motor learning processes and on the biomechanical principles of movement analysis. In addition, you will learn in the lecture to what extent human motor skills change in the course of life (motor development). In the context of selected topics, such as emotions in sport (fear and will) or motivation in sport, you will also acquire basic knowledge of sport psychology.

In the lecture "Fundamentals of Training Science and Sports Medicine", you will acquire basic knowledge of the active and passive musculoskeletal system, the central nervous system and the organ systems, anatomical structures and physiological mechanisms required under stress conditions, which underlie training-induced adaptation processes and thus every increase in performance of conditional abilities. In addition, you will learn the basic principles of training, which are an essential prerequisite for triggering, securing and controlling the desired adaptations and thus the training of conditional abilities.

The contents of the lecture "Fundamentals of Sports Pedagogy" refer to the scientific understanding of sports pedagogy, to various sports pedagogical theories and methods (humanities and empirical-analytical methods, historical and systematic approach) as well as to central topics of sports pedagogy, such as competence and performance experience, social learning, aesthetic education, sport and gender, sports teachers and profession or social and development-dependent determinants of movement, play and sports behaviour.
