Competencies

In this module, you will learn how to transfer your knowledge of economics to sports markets. You will first gain a better understanding of the special economic features of the sports sector and learn in-depth comparisons of sport with other sectors. This is supplemented by an intensive examination of (model) theoretical considerations on the economic behaviour of individuals and organisations in the seminar "Organisational Economics". In addition, in the seminar "Economic Analysis of Individual and Team Performance" you will deal intensively with selected scientific literature and write a seminar paper in preparation for a Master's thesis with a sports economics perspective, which will enable you to identify a scientific, sports economic problem, substantiate it theoretically and work on it independently.

Content of teaching

In this module, you will expand your knowledge of the economic aspects of sport. In the seminar "Organisational Economics", you will take an in-depth look at behavioural patterns and incentive problems from an economic perspective, as they occur in many organisations within and outside of sport. This knowledge will be used in the seminar "Economic Analysis of Individual and Team Performance" to deal with current issues in sport (e.g. (incentive) contracts, team performance, misconduct) from an economic perspective and to discuss these on the basis of current literature.
