Competencies

Non-official translation of the module descriptions. Only the German version is legally binding.

As part of the general competence concept for the MA degree programme in Sociology (see https://www.uni-bielefeld.de/fakultaeten/soziologie/studium/master/pdf/Kompetenzkonzept_Masterstudiengaenge.pdf), students learn about the academic research process as a context of different phases in the "major" teaching research and carry it out in all its phases using a selected topic as an example. They learn in depth how to plan and organise research processes, carry them out using subject-specific methods and present their results in writing.

Content of teaching

At the centre of teaching in this module is the scientific research process, which is reflected upon and carried out in all its phases using a subject-relevant topic as an example. The core of the teaching research module is regularly the theoretically and methodically prepared evaluation of empirical data material - orientated towards a subject-specific question - and the independent presentation of corresponding research results.

As part of this module, students are instructed to work independently on a research problem, either individually or in a team. They produce their own research results, which they also document in writing.
