Biology

Biology is the scientific discipline that studies life. At the Faculty of Biology, this diverse subject can be studied across a broad spectrum: Cell and Molecular Biology, Genome Research, Neurobiology through to Behavioural Research, Evolution and Ecology are all areas in which specialisation is possible. Faculty working groups work in pioneering interdisciplinary fields such as biomedicine, bioinformatics and biotechnology.
Practical laboratory components are firmly integrated into the degree programme and courses throughout the course. Prospective teachers complete a Teaching Experience Semester and thus enter into everyday working life at different types of schools. In addition, exchange programmes offer the opportunity to study at universities abroad and gain valuable international experience.
Studying biology - as a specialised degree or as a teacher training course - opens up an understanding of the interrelationships in living nature and a wide range of prospects for future appointments.
