Educational Sciences form a central part of the teacher training programme at Bielefeld University. Depending on the school type and chosen subjects, they are studied to varying degrees. Students study educational and social theories, research methods, inclusive education, and school-related psychology.
A special feature of Bielefeld University is the interlinking of theory and practice. The Faculty of Educational Science attaches particular importance to application-oriented training through practical teaching formats, didactic models and insights into school-related fields of action – even beyond the integrated practical phases. This allows the knowledge acquired to be tested and reflected upon in everyday school life from an early stage.
Future students should be curious about pedagogical issues, interested in working with children and young people and have a pronounced ability to reflect. The main career goal is to become a teacher, but the programme also qualifies students for other educational fields.
