Anna Spiegel is the scientific coordinator of the DFG-funded Research Training Group "Cross-Border Labour Markets" (https://www.grk2951.de). Previously, she held the Chair of General Sociology at Paderborn University for three semesters and was a research assistant at the Faculty of Sociology, Bielefeld University. She has conducted research on transnational social spaces, transnational work and the transnationalisation of knowledge in various contexts: in her diploma thesis (2003) on translocal lifeworlds of Bolivian migrant women in Buenos Aires, as a member of the VW project "Negotiating Development: Translocal Gendered Spaces in Muslim Societies" (Bielefeld University, 2003-2005) and in the subsequent dissertation project on transnational negotiation processes of development concepts such as women's and human rights, and finally in the DFG project "Expatriate Managers: A New Cosmopolitan Elite? Habitus, everyday practices and networks" on highly qualified mobile workers in the context of transnational economic organisations.
