Body and medical sociology, qualitative methods (in particular ethnography and interaction analyses in institutional contexts), ethnomethodology, sociological gender studies (doing gender, gender diversity).

In my ethnographic dissertation project, I focus on gynaecological practice and investigate the mechanisms of creating and maintaining gynaecological situations. The central subject is the practices of professional intimacy in the profession known as "gynaecology". As a contribution to ethnomethodological studies of work, the aim is to reconstruct how the work of the practice staff is organised interactively, physically and materially, technically and linguistically.

In teaching, I combine my focus of research with various theoretical, methodological and empirical questions, including teaching assignments at the Universities of Bielefeld, Münster and Duisburg-Essen and at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
