This seminar focuses on the histories and stories of the Stolen Generations—Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children forcibly removed from their families under Australian government policies spanning from the 1910s to the early 1970s. We will learn from critical Aboriginal and other Indigenous perspectives and take these interventions as a starting point in re-reading the 1997 Bringing Them Home report, the 2008 Apology, as well as a well as a number of fictionalized (both dominant/oppressive and subversive) accounts.
