Religionssoziolog:Innen, wo sie nicht selbst als Gläubige auftreten und dabei insinuieren, sie verstünden, wovon sie sprächen, stilisieren sich gegenläufig zu ihren bekennenden Kolleg:Innen oft auch gern und mit autoritärem Verweis auf Max Weber als religiös unmusikalisch, verpassen so aber vielleicht nur auf andere Weise, was es eigentlich zu klären gilt, denn hier langt es nicht einmal mehr zum ungläubigen Staunen. In diesem Seminar soll Religion stattdessen als eine in bestimmter Weise lancierte Modalität des kommunikativen Mit- und Gegeneinanders in den Fokus genommen und nach ihren gesellschaftlichen, wie auch, mindestens ausschnittsweise, nach ihren möglichen psychischen Funktionen befragt werden. Es kommt uns also darauf an das Abrakadabra, Simsalabim und Hokuspokus Fidibus religiöser Kommunikation und einschneidender und traumatischer oder auch gezielt verführerisch angelegter religiös-ritueller Manöver etwas genauer zu verstehen und mit Blick auf Ablauf und Folgen zu erklären.
