Das Seminar untersucht das Verhältnis von Gericht und Theater anhand exemplarischer Texte von der griechischen Tragödie bis zum zeitgenössischen postdramatischen Theater. Ausgehend von antiken Urszenen des Rechts (Aischylos, Sophokles) verfolgt das Seminar die Entwicklung des Gerichts als Metapher und Topos. Mit dem barocken Welttheater (Calderón) und Schillers programmatischer Theaterästhetik wird das Verhältnis von Bühne, Öffentlichkeit und moralischem Urteil reflektiert. Das Seminar wendet sich mit Texten von Kleist und Agatha Christie dem Gericht als dramatischem Ort zu. Darauf aufbauend widmen wir uns der Reflexion der unmittelbaren Vergangenheit in drei deutschsprachigen Dramen nach 1945 (Brecht, Weiss, Kipphardt). Weitere Schwerpunkte liegen auf Fragen von Geschlecht, Schuld und sozialer Normierung sowie auf zeitgenössischen und postdramatischen Formen des Gerichtstheaters (Arthur Miller, Milo Rau, Elfriede Jelinek).Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, Gericht nicht nur als Thema, sondern als theatrale Form zu begreifen und literarische Texte im Spannungsfeld von Recht, Macht, Öffentlichkeit und Performativität zu analysieren.
