Wie funktioniert das Erinnern? Wie konstituiert sich das autobiografische Gedächtnis? Wie arbeitet es und was genau verarbeitet es? Welche Rolle spielt dabei die Gesellschaft? Wie gehen unsere individuellen Erinnerungen in das kollektive Gedächtnis über? Wodurch sind die Wandlungen im kollektiven Gedächtnis verursacht? Warum verlieren oder gewinnen Erinnerungen an gesellschaftlicher Bedeutung? Was macht die politische Dimension des Gedächtnisses aus?

Diesen Fragen widmet sich das Seminar. Es wird versucht, den Begriffen "Erinnerung" und "Gedächtnis" interdisziplinär auf den Grund zu gehen.

In der Veranstaltung werden die Erkenntnisse der Neurowissenschaften mit denen entsprechender Untersuchungen aus der Soziologie (social memory studies) und den Kulturwissenschaften zusammengeführt und didaktisch-methodische Fragen, die sich aus diesem Forschungsbereich für die Praxis des Landeskundeunterrichts ergeben, diskutiert. Anschließend werden die Teilnehmer mit der WebQuest-Methode ein Thema der deutschen Geschichte unter einem gedächtnisgeschichtlichen Aspekt didaktisieren.
