The skill to interact successfully in intercultural contexts is one of the major curricular goals in secondary schools. How is this skill developed on a practical level – in foreign language classes, in bilingual classes (CLIL) and beyond the classroom? We will be examining this skill as the focal point of all other competence fields in foreign language classes and as a component of bilingual (CLIL) non-language classes. We will also be looking at measures fostering excellence in this field and their concrete results. In addition to the seminar we will be spending two days in school examining and reflecting on practical work in this context.
Please note:
The seminar will take place on the following dates: 23.10. / 13.11. / 27.11. / 04.12. / 18.12. / 15.01. / 22.1.
There are also two practical blocks. They will take place on the following days:
Friday, 16th January 2026 (7:30 - 14:30) at Rudolf-Brandes-Gymnasium in Bad Salzufeln
Wednesday, 21st January 2026 (7:30 - 14:30) at Ratsgymnasium Bielefeld

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
