Wie haben sich Paradigmen der empirischen Sozialforschung in den qualitativen Methoden entwickelt? Der erste Teil des Seminars widmet sich der Einführung wichtiger theoretischer Paradigmen der empirischen Sozialforschung und ihrer kontroversen Debatten. Im zweiten Teil des Seminars werden wir an konkreten Beispielen erarbeiten, wie sich diese in der Entwicklung von Forschungsmethodologien niederschlagen. In diesem Zusammenhang werden wir Studien der Chicago School aus dem frühen und mittleren zwanzigsten Jahrhundert, sowie neuere Studien der Community Studies, der urbanen Soziologie, der Migrationsforschung und der Gender Studies vorstellen, um das Zusammenspiel von Paradigmen und Methodologie im Laufe der Zeit zu untersuchen.
