Die Veranstaltung soll einen Überblick über Theorien und Methoden der internationalen Kinder- und Kindheitsforschung bieten. Außerdem werden neuere empirische Studien über Kinder und Kinderleben vorgestellt und die Bedeutung der Kenntnis für die Erziehungswissenschaft diskutiert.
