Der Dichter Catull gehört zu einer Gruppe von Dichtern, die sich mit einer neuen Art von Dichtung beschäftigten, die v.a. von den alexandrinischen Dichtungsidealen des Kallimachos geprägt wurde.
Catullus' polymetrische Gedichtsammlung deckt eine große Reichweiste von Themen ab, denen wir uns im Seminar widmen wollen. Dazu gehören natürlich die Lesbia-Gedichte, Invektiven gegen Politiker und schlechte Dichter, Hozeitslieder sowie das einzig erhaltene Epyllion (Klein-Epos) in lateinischer Sprache.
Im Seminar wollen wir uns zudem mit Catulls Sprechinstanzen, seiner Technik, seinem Stil beschäftigen, um herauszufinden, warum er einer der römischen Dichter ist, zu dem man einen relativ einfachen Zugang findet und der auch heute noch fasziniert - wobei seine Gedichte freundlich, liebevoll, verliebt. witzig, ernsthaft und unfaßbar obszön daherkommen. Unglaublich kunstvoll und kunstfertig sind seine Gedichte immer!
