- Die Veranstaltung findet als Hybrid-Veranstaltung statt (mit sowohl synchronen als auch asynchronen Elementen).

Cicero schrieb Ende der 50-er Jahre v. Chr. den Dialog De legibus als Schwesterschrift zu De re publica. In ihm lässt es sich selbst im Dialog mit seinem Bruder Quintus und seinem Freund und Vertrauten Atticus über die Themen Gesetzlichkeit, Recht und Staat sprechen. In Buch 1 entfaltet Cicero eine Theorie des Naturrechts, die seit der Spätantike eine große Rezeption erfuhr. Buch 2 behandelt die Religionsgesetzgebung, Buch 3 die Magistrate. Weitere Bücher sind nicht überliefert, wohl aber von Cicero zumindest in Entwürfen abgefasst worden. i

Im Seminar werden wir uns in den Text und die neueste Forschungsliteratur einlesen und gemeinsam zentrale Fragestellungen diskutieren.
