Dass Klienten ihren Beratern persönlich vertrauen können müssen, wird in der beratungswissenschaftlichen Literatur meist als selbstverständlich vorausgesetzt. Bei näherer Betrachtung werden indes Zweifel an dieser vermeintlichen Selbstverständlichkeit laut. So hat persönliches Vertrauen typischerweise in persönlichen Nahbeziehungen wie z.B. Partnerschaften oder Freundschaften seinen Ort, wohingegen Berater ihren Klienten als professionelle Akteure gegenübertreten, die gehalten sind, eine gewisse persönliche Distanz zu diesen zu wahren. Persönliches Vertrauen bringt für den Vertrauensgeber zudem spezifische persönliche Verletzlichkeiten mit sich, die in professionellen Arbeitsbeziehungen vermieden werden sollten (oder nicht?). Dies führt zu der Frage, ob für ein professionelles Arbeitsbündnis seitens des Klienten weniger persönliches Vertrauen auf den Berater als vielmehr die Erwartung, der Berater werde auf verlässliche Weise professionell handeln, konstitutiv ist.
Im Seminar wollen wir uns mit einigen neueren Vorschlägen auseinandersetzen, Vertrauen und Verlass begrifflich voneinander abzugrenzen. Gestützt auf die dabei gewonnen Einsichten wollen wir anschließend die Frage zu beantworten suchen, ob ein professionelles Arbeitsbündnis zwischen Berater und Klient von wechselseitigem Vertrauen oder von wechselseitigem Verlass (oder von beidem) getragen sein sollte.
