Dieser Kurs bietet eine historische Orientierung zur Geschichte der Sowjetunion in den 1920er-1930er Jahren. Wir werden mithilfe verschiedener Quellen, wie z. B. offiziellen Texten, Bildern, Tagebüchern und Filmen, versuchen, einige der schwierigsten Fragen für die Geschichtswissenschaft zu beantworten. Was waren die Konsequenzen der Revolution für das Land und seine verschiedenen Völker? Warum führten die revolutionären Träume zu Stalins Terror? Wie kann man die Ergebnisse der Macht Stalins bewerten? Und wie hat die Sowjetunion sich für den Zweiten Weltkrieg vorbereitet und welche Rolle spielte sie für den Ausbruch dieser Katastrophe? Im Rahmen der Diskussionen werden Studierende eine differenzierte Vorstellung über die Geschichte der Sowjetunion in den 1920er-1940er Jahren und den aktuellen historiographischen Ansätzen hierzu bekommen.
