260022 Hobbes und Locke über den Staat (S) (SoSe 2023)

Hobbes und Locke gelten als die bahnbrechenden Theoretiker des modernen Staates. Beide gehen von einem unhaltbaren Naturzustand aus, der durch die Einführung des Staates überwunden werden soll. Allerdings unterscheiden sich die Charakterisierungen des Naturzustands erheblich: Während Hobbes einen rechtsfreien Zustand ansetzt, existieiren bei Locke schon im Naturzustand Rechte. Dadurch werden auch die Staataufgaben und der Aufbau des Staates unterschiedlich gesehen - Hobbes präferiert einen absoluten Staat mit großer Machtbefugnis, Locke einen liberalen Staat mit Gewaltenteilung. Im Seminar sollen die zentralen Überlegungen aus den Werken von Hobbes und Locke besprochen und diskutiert werden.
Im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltung können maximal 15 Hausarbeiten geschrieben werden.
