Es handelt sich um eine begleitende Übung zur Vorlesung. Sie folgt der dortigen Themenstruktur und dient dem vertiefenden Gespräch der dort behandelten Themen anhand von entsprechenden (vertiefenden oder exemplarischen) Texten.
Beachten Sie, dass es mehrere Übungen zur Vorlesung gibt, die sich in ihrer Ausrichtung unterscheiden.

Für die Bescheinigung der aktiven Teilnahme bzw. einer Studienleistung:
Regelmäßige Anwesenheit und Beteiligung an der Seminardiskussion; Lektüre der erforderlichen Literatur zu jeder Sitzung; Memos zu mindestens acht Texten, die für die Sitzungen vorbereitet werden müssen.
Zusätzlich für eine benotete Einzelleistung:
Sie verfassen eine Hausarbeit zu einer Frage, die wir im Rahmen der Veranstaltung diskutieren bzw. die einen Veranstaltungsbezug hat. Ihre Texte sollten problemorientiert, anschaulich und argumentativ sein.
Zum Umfang: Sie werden es schwer haben, etwas Substantielles in weniger als 4.000 Wörtern auszudrücken. Falls Sie demgegenüber 8.000 Wörter überschreiten, werden Sie selbst den aufgeschlossensten Leser langweilen.
