Die Weimarer Kultur um 1800 reduziert sich nicht auf Literatur und theoretische Diskussionen, sondern zeichnet sich dadurch aus, in der alltäglichen Praxis neue Zugänge zu den anschaulichen, sinnlichen und materiellen Qualitäten von Gegenständen und Kunstwerken zu bahnen. Das Seminar soll diese Kultur des Sinnlichen in der Lektüre einschlägiger Quellen, der Analyse exemplarischer Dinge und Kunstwerke sowie in der Diskussion theoretischer Positionen entfalten. Es versteht sich daher auch als Versuch, neue Methoden bei der Rekonstruktion historischer Erfahrungskulturen zu erschließen.
