Pendant - trop - longtemps, l'analyse conversationnelle ne s'est occupée que de ce qu'on appelle la conversation, c'est-à-dire les situations de communication quotidienne. Depuis quelques années, cependant, la communication dans des situations de travail, à l'école, dans les services des municipalités se trouove au centre des préoccupations théoriques et analytiques de bon nombre de recherches. Elles font ainsi le lien à des traditions pragamtiques des années soixante et soixante-dix qui s'étaient déjè intéressées à ces situations, mais bien sûr à la base d'autres conceptions théoriques et méthodiques.
Nous allons connaître ces deux courants en y ajoutant la perspective empirique qui nous amènera à envisager de petits projets de groupe.
