Diese Lehrveranstaltung gibt einen Überblick über die Entwicklung der Soziologie von ihren Anfängen im frühen 19. Jahrhundert (Auguste Comte) bis in die Nachkriegszeit. Sie differenziert zwischen unterschiedlichen nationalen Kulturen (Deutschland, Frankreich, England, Italien, USA) und ordnet die soziologischen Theorien in ihren historischen Kontext ein. Ziel der Vorlesung ist es, eine Art „Landkarte“ zu entwickeln, der die Studierenden soziologisches Wissen historisch zuordnen können.

• die „Gründerväter“ der Soziologie (Auguste Comte, Herbert Spencer, Lorenz v. Stein)
• Marxismus als soziologische Theorie
• die Durkheim-Schule
• die italienische Soziologie der Elite (Gaetano Mosca, Vilfredo Pareto, Robert Michels)
• die frühe amerikanische Soziologie (Chicago-Schule, G. H. Mead)
• die frühe deutsche Soziologie (Ferdinand Tönnies, Georg Simmel, Max Weber)
• die Wissenssoziologie der 20er Jahre (Max Scheler, Karl Mannheim)
• die „Kritische Theorie“ (Max Horkheimer, Theodor W. Adorno)
• Soziologie im Dritten Reich und im Exil (u. a. Norbert Elisas)
• die deutsche Soziologie der Nachkriegszeit (René König, Helmut Schelsky, Ralf Dahrendorf)
• der Strukturfunktionallismus (Talcott Parsons, Robert Merton)
• die kulturelle Wende seit den 70er Jahren

Die Vorlesung wendet sich an Studienanfänger sowie an fortgeschrittene Studierende im GS, die thematisches Wissen erwerben und geprüft werden wollen.
